Public investigation of Milford Historical Society properties (06/27/15)

Eells-Stow House

Evening in Review

GROUP 1
The group from 9-10 pm was joined by the property caretaker who advised of the presence of a female spirit named Esther.  The caretaker claims that Esther was one of the former residents, a young girl who continues to engage in playful manifestations around the property.  In the parlor, there was quite a bit of activity with the dowsing rods that were being used by investigators.  A woman reported being touched by an entity and became very nauseous while holding the dowsing rods in the living room.  EMF meters also showed a change in activity with lights changing from green to yellow-orange.

There was lots of interaction with the dowsing rods in the bedroom, upstairs on the right, as users claimed they felt the rods getting hot as they were spinning profusely.  Questions about a male energy in the room received a favorable response. An investigator noticed that the bed clothes appeared rumpled upon exiting the room when she did not recall them being messy at the time the room was entered.
While in the bedroom upstairs on the left, an investigator sensed a presence in the corner around a chair, in the spot where photos also captured orbs in previous investigations. Dowsing rods were moving in response to questions about what responded to be a male entity and the energy seemed to be moving around the room. Investigators felt drafts and changes in temperature in the room.  A female investigator reported being touched on the arm at the same time dowsing rods were pointing at the person who felt touched. This investigator became overwhelmed and needed to stop holding the rods.
An energy was manifesting in the kitchen through dowsing rod movement, pendulum motion and EMF activity.  Questions from the investigators led in the direction of a female energy who was not pleased with having visitors in the home.

GROUP 2
A male investigator in the parlor asked if Esther was present and dowsing rods began to move that were held by this investigator and other investigators. Investigators also reported cold drafts.  A female investigator was holding an EMF meter that showed elevated activity levels. Tests using another meter were conducted and the same display of EMF activity was experienced regardless of which device was being used. An NPIS investigator reported a cold spot in a place where it had been previously verified no drafts existed. EMF meters displayed a great deal of activity and another NPIS investigator reported being touched on the leg. An investigator reported sense of a little boy being nearby.

The office contained lots of EMF meter activity in the room upon entry. There was also energetic interaction with dowsing rods and pendulum. The energy quickly dissipated after some questions were asked.
In the upstairs bedroom on the left, investigators reported that the room was very cold. EMF detectors went off in the vicinity of the chair in the corner of the room. An NPIS investigator reported that something had batted the pendulum she was using. As questions were being asked, an NPIS investigator reported hearing a voice through the walkie he was holding and he confirmed with the investigator who had the other walkie inside another home on the property that he had not said anything through it. Investigators reported rods clanking together during this same time.
Dowsing rods were moving in the kitchen. A startling and loud series of knocking noises were heard by all present but because the caretaker’s apartment shares one wall with the kitchen, and a party was in progress in that apartment, the noise could have come from that apartment and not as a result of any paranormal activity. Dowsing rods moved in complete circles and an investigator reported being “smacked” by a rod as well as having a warm tingling sensation on the side of her leg.

GROUP 3
Investigators using dowsing rods in the parlor picked up on energy of a young male. EMF detectors also changed color as investigators requested that the meters be touched for evidence of a spirit presence. Rods pointed in the direction of a person that an investigator asked them to point toward. A female investigator felt a second presence in the room as well.

In the upstairs bedroom on the right, the NPIS investigator noted that the bedspread had impressions in it that were not visible for prior groups. A rocking chair in the room began to rock without a person being near it, and no one in the room believed that they could have bumped into it based on where they were located in the room at the time. An EMF detector illuminated about halfway. An investigator using dowsing rods asked questions about spirit presences and seemed to receive answers from an older male presence who claimed to have died in the home as an elderly man.
In the upstairs bedroom on the left, a female investigator reported constant movement of her dowsing rods, while a second female investigator’s rods moved only in response to questions. A cool feeling in the corner was experienced by two investigators. An EMF meter spiked in response to questions and the NPIS investigator was hit in the stomach by her pendulum. Dowsing rods also pointed in the direction of the EMF meter as the light on the meter was changing color.

PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE

The result of spiritual energy in close proximity to the camera. This isn’t a photo of a spirit itself but the result of spiritual energy’s effects on electronics, in this case causing a camera to malfunction and produce a strange light pattern in this photo within the kitchen.

EVENING IN REVIEW

GROUP 1
The kitchen seemed to be an active location for the first group in the Clark-Stockade House. An energy was felt the first time passing through the room and photos taken by investigators resulted in orbs being captured. While in the bedroom, knocking was heard on the window which caused excitement but it was then discovered that a loose window pane was being knocked around by the wind. It is just as important to debunk potential evidence of spirit activity so that only the activity experienced and evidence documented which cannot be explained or recreated remain. While passing through the kitchen a second time, a sudden sweet fragrance of perfume was smelled. It lasted for just a few seconds. Everyone confirmed they were not wearing a fragrance of any kind. There were occasional EMF meter spikes in the kitchen as well, on one occasion accompanying an orb being captured in an investigator’s photo.

GROUP 2
Upon entering the home, one female investigator, a sensitive, felt as if her hand were being held, almost with a child-like grip. This feeling accompanied her throughout the home. Again the kitchen proved to be an active room, as during an EVP session, the spinning wheel (or loom) slightly rotated by itself. This movement was captured on footage. Further attempts to get the wheel to turn again on its own resulted in no further activity in that room. Upon entering the bedroom, a feeling of pain and sadness overcame some of the sensitive investigators, specifically revolving around the cradle next to the bed. One female investigator experienced stomach pains, feeling that a baby once associated with the cradle had developed an illness and most likely passed away. Another female investigator picked up on the energy of what may have been the child’s mother and upon feeling the emotional distress and sadness for her sick child, she became emotional. It is said that spirits, when in the presence of a sensitive, can emit their emotions onto that person, using them as a sort of portal to communicate through.

GROUP 3
The third group to enter the Clark-Stockade House resulted in what would appear to be an almost game-like display of unusual noises and sounds. While everyone was in one room, a sound would be heard from another. When we all transitioned into the room we heard the sound in, it would then appear in a different room altogether. The first floor was small enough that we were able to break into two groups, covering different rooms of the first floor. At that time, footsteps were heard from above on the second floor, though we were unable to get up there to investigate the source of that sound. At the end of the third group’s investigation as people at left the grounds of the Clark-Stockade House, NPIS’s Mark and Adam stayed behind to grab some equipment when they witnessed what appeared to be someone running quickly past the kitchen window outside. No one was on the property at that time. As both investigators the left home to rejoin everyone in the Bryan-Downs House, Adam felt a rush of energy behind him as soon as he stepped out of the home, the energy coming from the direction of the lake while Mark felt the same energy come from behind him from in the house before he had actually stepped out of it. Both investigators felt the rush and spun around simultaneously only to see nothing.

PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE

An orb was captured in the kitchen during the eventful goings-on in Group 3’s visit.

An orb appears behind an investigator in the kitchen, where the spinning wheel seen at the left would earlier be captured moving on footage (see below).

FOOTAGE

While the second group was in the kitchen, the spinning wheel (or loom) at the left of this footage began moving on its own. You can see the reaction of the male investigator as he moves back following the second movement of the wheel.

AUDIO EVIDENCE (EVP)
Just before an investigator from Group 2 began reading a bible, this EVP was captured right after NPIS’s Adam finishes talking. We are not certain what is being said.

EVENING IN REVIEW

GROUP 1
There was lots of pendulum action in the Bryan-Downs house. This first group experienced extremely high levels of energy. Those able to connect with their pendulums got some pretty amazing results, most notably the initial “S” coming up over and over on the pendulum charts. Many in the room believed that “S” was the middle-aged woman that previous paranormal investigators (many years ago) identified as being one of the strongest spirits in the house. Asking yes-no questions as a group, Cindy’s pendulum also led to us getting the message that one of the spirits in the room was a male who lived in the house, died during the Revolutionary War and came back to be with family who lived in the house.

GROUP 2
Similar to the first group, the initial “S” came up numerous times as we used the pendulum charts. Several people were also sure that they were able to “feel” and “greet,” via pendulum, a young servant girl named Margery, who also was identified several years ago by previous investigators as being one of the spirits there. Though a male spirit identified himself as being connected with the Revolutionary War (assumedly the same who visited Group 1), there was a strong feeling that other energies in the room were connected with the Civil War clothing on display. members of this group also had success with scrying, reporting that they saw very distinct white auras either around themselves or the person sitting next to them.

GROUP 3
We had quite a few emotional moments with this group, particularly during scrying. One of our participants and her family members felt strongly that through the scrying, they were able to see and feel the image of a loved one who had passed on. (For those from all the groups who didn’t have the best luck with scrying, remember that it takes a lot of practice. A quiet setting conducive to falling into a relaxed, meditative state is optimal.) Working with the pendulums, this group had an odd experience of “clearing out.” At the start of working with the pendulums, we were clearly getting messages from several spirits, primarily women. By the time we’d reached the last several minutes of the session, we were only hearing from the one man, who said “yes” when we asked whether he was the only spirit left in the house. Perhaps, after such a busy night, they were as tired as all of us were.

Each group took turns using the pendulum, which seemed to be providing some interesting results throughout the evening.
