William Henry Harrison Wooster was a Civil War veteran, served on the Connecticut State Senate and founded numerous local businesses including the Seymour Manufacturing Company, Seymour Water company and Seymour Bank & Trust. Wooster began construction of his 20-room mansion in 1878, which was completed in 1894. Following the sale of the mansion after the last remaining family mamber’s death in 1974, the home became a restaurant (Carousel Gardens) and since 2010 has been home to the Oxford Academy of Hair Design.
