Balls, vaudeville and opera performances were frequent events at the Thomaston Opera House since its opening in 1884. The establishment was even used as a movie theater for a short time before its closing in the 1960s. The theater has recently undergone a massive restoration and is once again open for local theater performances.
A number of names in entertainment have performed here over time, including famed opera singer Enrico Caruso (left) and Ray Bolger, best known for his role as the Scarecrow in 1939’s “The Wizard of Oz”.
